Can you imagine trying to run up BMT with mountain bikers barreling down on us? One of the mountain bikers mentioned this when we were talking to them on Thursday morning. They didn't seem in favor of it, but then again, they could bike right from their own houses.
Black Mountain Peak Run

THIS IS the longest run in Rancho San Antonio Preserve, from the parking lot to the top of Black Mountain is 8 miles, with about 2400 feet of elevation. Its perfect to keep the marathon edge on during the off months.
If you use Google Earth, you can put these coordinates in and get a nice view of the top. (You might have to change your options to set you Lat/Lon to degrees instead of degrees, minutes, seconds)

On the Way Up

WE'RE ABOUT 15 minutes from the power pole on the way up and stopping for a little sight seeing and a munch. This is really an excellent trail to run.

Black Mountain Peak II - The Return of the Runners

WE MADE it again to the top of Black Moutain Peak, this time the weather was much nicer as you can see if you look back in the blog from last year. In fact it was so nice we took a little extra time and had a picnic (I carried the turkey) on a set of rocks that are just a little way past this station. While we were admiring the views a trio of mountain bikers joined us and we had all sorts of interesting endurance sporte related talks. We even learned about a couple other spots; Grizzly [Peak,Basin?], China Grade - from which we could run from/to/through.
I even learned that there are horseback endurance events, doing 150 miles through rough terrain on horseback which sounded fun.
Sissie is even sporting her new Big Sur Training long-sleeve that is pretty cool. Look out April, here we come!
